Liberty Community Christian Church was birth into the Spirit of Dr. Michael Walton as a need to serve all people. He received revelation from God through scripture quoting Genesis 12:1-3. “Now the Lord has said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”
The process of starting the church began through the faith walk of Dr. Walton. In December 2013, launching of the ministry was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit and all he needed to do was to step out on faith. “Acting like a thing is so, even when it is not so, in order that it may be so.” After receiving confirmation from his wife, that this was indeed his ministry and his calling, he made contact with Keith McClure and Delores Washington. On Friday, December 13, 2013, Dr. Walton attended a seminar on church planting. A meeting was held to determine the name of the church. Pastor Walton mentioned Liberty because he wanted the people to be free to serve the Lord in Spirit and in Truth. Also, he mentioned Community because he wanted to stay geographically in the Kernersville area. Then, Deacon McClure suggested it should be a Christian church, inter-denominational that welcomes all people. Sister Washington suggested LC3 as an acronym to represent the Trinity: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. On December 16, 2013 a Statutory Declaration of Church Establishment and Tax Exempt Status was notarized by Deacon Keith McClure, Sister Evelyn Walton, and Sister Delores Washington to identify Dr. Walton as Pastor and Overseer of Liberty Community Christian Church. We received the Article of Incorporation on December 26, 2013 acknowledging the legal name of Liberty Community Christian Church Overseer and Successors, a Corporation Sole. The facility at 209 Century Boulevard was accepted as the church location on January 7, 2014. Our first service was held on February 2, 2014 with 30 attendees. The church dedication service was held on Feburary 9th with Mayor Dawn Morgan in attendance and presenting Liberty Community Christian Church, also known as LC3, to the Kernersville Community. A Loving Church - A Large Mission.
